Srinagar: The death toll due to Novel Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir has crossed 700-mark as eleven more patients who were tested positive for COVID-19 died on Sunday.
The toll of deaths due to the virus in the Union territory has reached 702, officials said.
An official said that 11 patients who died include a 70-year-old man from Batamallo Srinagar, a 40-year-old man from Gousia Colony Bemina, a 45-year-old woman from Tangmarg, a 62-year-old woman from Panzoo Tral, a 65-year-old woman from Mazhama Magam Budgam, a 70-year-old man from Nadihal Bandipora, a 30-year-old man from Udhampur, a 57-year-old man from Drass, Kargil, a 55-year-old woman from Khour Pallanwalla, a 46-year-old woman from Chack Arnia and a 47-year-old woman from Prem Nagar Jammu.
An official from SMHS said that a patient from Batamallo who was admitted on 26 August, a patient from Bemina who was admitted on 26 August, a patient from Tangmarg who was admitted on 27 August, a patient from Panzoo Tral who was admitted with diabetes, hypertension and bilateral Pneumonia on 24 August and a patient from Mazhama Magam who was admitted on 21 August, died on Sunday.
An official from SKIMS JVC Bemina said that a patient from Nandihal Bandipora who was admitted on 17 August died on Saturday.
An official from SKIMS Soura said that a patient from Udhampur who was admitted in 23 August with chest infection and bilateral Pneumonia and a patient from Drass Kargil who was admitted on 26 August died on Saturday.
He said that recent samples of the patient from Udhampur were negative.
An official from GMC Jammu told KNO that a patient from Khour Pallanwalla and a patient from Chack Arnia Jammu died on Saturday night while a patient from Prem Nagar Jammu died on Sunday.
With 11 more deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 702 including 639 from Kashmir division and 63 from Jammu division.
786 more test positive
Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday reported 786 fresh cases of COVID-19 pandemic including 85 travelers, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 37,163 in the Union Territory.
Of the total 37,163 cases, 28,627 are from Kashmir and 8,536 from Jammu division.
Officials said that among 786 new cases, 432 belong to Kashmir division while as 354 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 28,627 including 22,097 recoveries while as the total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 8,536 including 6,413 recoveries and 63 deaths.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 7,959 including 5,899 from Kashmir division and 2,060 from Jammu division.
With 490 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 28,510, which is 76.72 percent of the total cases.
Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 9,186 positive cases, which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 8,536.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 161 from Srinagar, 26 from Baramulla, 25 from Pulwama, 52 from Budgam, 38 from Anantnag, 37 from Bandipora, 30 from Kupwara, 11 from Kulgam, 08 from Shopian and 44 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 354 from Jammu division include 258 from Jammu, 06 from Rajouri, 18 from Kuthua, 09 from Udhampur, 07 from Samba, 05 from Doda, 06 from Poonch, 18 from Reasi and 27 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.
As per officials figures, 9,186 positive cases including 219 deaths and 7,378 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,810 including 100 deaths and 2,204 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,590 including 2,077 recoveries and 48 deaths are from Pulwama, 2,479 including 1,729 recoveries and 60 deaths are from Budgam, 2,314 including 49 deaths and 1,755 recoveries are from Anantnag, 2,142 including 1,383 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,075 cases including 1,397 and 46 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,918 including 1,673 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,698 including 1,550 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Shopian and 1,415 including 951 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Ganderbal.
In Jammu division, 3,149 including 1,979 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Jammu district, 888 including 766 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Rajouri, 871 including 666 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Kathua, 820 including 670 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Udhampur, 706 including 524 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Samba, 653 including 633 recoveries and 01 death are from Ramban, 415 including 336 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Doda, 413 including 324 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Poonch, 389 including 319 recoveries are from Reasi and 242 including 185 recoveries and 01 death are from Kishtwar.
As per the daily information bulletin, 458,984 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 45,176 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 7,959 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 360,122 persons have completed surveillance period and 45,033 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 956,733 samples are available.
Out of 956,733 the number of samples tested negative stands at 919,570 while 37,163 have tested positive, among them 7,959 are active and 28,510 persons have recovered. (with KNO inputs)
