Srinagar: Muslim Khawteen Markaz,a constituent of Hurriyat Conference (G), was on Monday rechristened as Kashmir Womens Movement (KWM).
Addressing a news conference here KWM chairperson Zamrooda Habib said that the objectives of KWM is to assist women who are victims of injustice. To assist women in their liberation from India, provide them assistance and create awareness of human rights of women are our main objectives, Zamrooda said adding the party has been rechristened after getting nod from Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
She said that her party will cooperate with other existing organizations and will strive towards common goal.
Kashmir issue has many dimensions that includes historical, geographic and most importantly the human dimension. Our partys view is quite obvious that this is an internationally recognized issue that can only be settled as per aspirations of the people of the state and the implementation of the UN resolutions provides the best mechanism, she said.
On behalf of MKM I would like to inform that we have decided to change our partys name to Kashmir Womens Movement and it shall remain as constituent of Hurriyat Conference (G).
She said London based Shameema Shawal has been nominated as Secretary General of the party. Shawal addressed the gathering on phone from London during the press conference and reiterated her moral and financial support to the party. Shawl will represent the organization on International level.
