Pattan: Municipal Committee Pattan (MCP) in North Kashmir Monday alleged that Home Department has failed to clear the rent payable to them for the occupation of Town Hall Pattan by Security Forces from past 13 years.
Municipal Committee Pattan had established a Town Hall in 1999 for organizing social, government, and political functions. The said Town Hall according to MCP was occupied by Security Forces in 2000 while an Assessment Committee headed by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla was formed to settle the rent of the Town Hall. The Assessment Committee fixed the rent Rs 84,000 per year, however, the MCP alleges they were not given a single penny by the Home Department till date.
Executive Officer, MCP, Bashir Ahmed Dar told CNS that from past 10 years the MCP has been reminding the Home Department and even during personal meetings the issue was raised but no rent was paid by the Authorities. This Town Hall needs renovation as it is in depilated and shabby condition due to continuous occupation by Security Forces, Dar said adding that time has come that Security Forces vacate the Hall and let MCP renovate it.
He further said that all the social and other functions are being organized in different schools from past one decade in Pattan as a result education sector gets affected. Dar demanded that Home Department should clear the balance so that Town Hall could be renovated in the interest of the general people.
Deputy Inspector General North Kashmir, J.P.Singh told CNS that police department has already constructed a building at Baba Teing and the government forces occupying Town Hall would be shifted to that building in coming days.
Let MCP approach us, we will help it to settle the rental issue, Singh said adding that police always cooperates with different departments to get the different issues resolved.
