Director Education likely to issue registration certificates on Monday
SRINAGAR: The much awaited registration of coaching centres of Kashmir was completed today after the expiry of the ten days deadline set by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar.
The Coaching Centres Association of Kashmir (CCA) had directed its members to submit the necessary paperwork within the stipulated time. All of our coaching centres worked overtime to comply with the new directive, said G N Var, chairman CCA. Although we have a little time to get our papers ready but most of our members managed to submit the files at the director of education by today.
Under the new guidelines the coaching centres had to provide complete details of the working of their centres on a prescribed format.
We provided the details like roll of our students, details of our faculty, infrastructure at our coaching centres, said Var. The information about the facilities like heating arrangement and separate washing rooms for both genders have also been provided.
It is pertinent to mention that Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Shah had convened a meeting of owners of coaching centres, officials of education department and police department on 19th December to resolve the long pending issue of the regulation of coaching centres in Kashmir.
After the meeting, Shah directed the coaching centres to register themselves with the education department within ten days, failing which a strict action would be taken against the unrecognized ones. Furthermore Shah asked the office of director education to issue registration papers to the coaching centres who fulfill all the guidelines set out by the government.
Hopefully we would be getting the registration certificates from director education on Monday, said Var. This will streamline the working of coaching centres and bring them under accountability and also bring to an end two year old issue.
The association said that if government finds any coaching centre violating the guidelines, they are free to close down the centre and bring its owner to the book.
The allegation of exorbitant fee and low quality education would now be taken care of, said Var. After the registration students would be the biggest beneficiary as it would end the uncertainty over the working of our centres and also provide them a backup security in case any centre cheats on them.
The association said that the new guidelines would directly benefit almost 50,000 students of the valley.
