SRINAGAR: Four unidentified armed persons shot a youth in foot and bundled him along with his companion in a Sumo vehicle in broad day light in Kamangarpora area of Old City on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said that two youth were on their way home in Kamangarpora area of Sarafkadal when four persons in plain clothes intercepted them near Masjid Ali (RA) and started frisking them. In the meantime, one of the youth tried to flee from the spot while one among four unidentified persons took out his pistol and shot the youth in the foot.
Eyewitnesses said that these unidentified persons caught hold of these two youth and forcibly stopped a sumo vehicle. They said that all the passengers from the Sumo vehicle were dragged out and the two apprehended youth were bundled into it and taken to some unknown destination.
A top police official said that the matter is mysterious and he cant comment over it without ascertaining the facts. It is better for you to talk to some higher official, he said.
Despite repeated attempts, no police official could be contacted for the comment. However police sources said the youth were detained by the personnel of Special Operations Group (SOG) of police.
Official sources said cops belonged to SOG Budgam and Srinagar who reached there in civvies.
