Srinagar: A minor girl is battling for her life at the SMHS hospital here after being hit by a vehicle driven by a ‘juvenile’ in Sonawari area of Bandipora district.
Eight-year-old Nahida was crossing the road at Sarie Dangerpora in Sonawari on Saturday last, when a speeding car (JK01AM-19) hit her, reports said Tuesday.
The minor girl was critically injured in the accident and was removed to the SMHS hospital for treatment. She was later put on ventilator support after her condition deteriorated.
Nahida’s father Bilal Ahmed alleged that the car which crushed his daughter was driven by a minor, identified by Kamran Zahoor Lone from Mujgund Pattan. He said the accused escaped from the spot after the accident.
“Police have arrested his father but we demand action against the father-son duo,” he said.
“What disturbs me is that the culprit is roaming free. The son should be booked for the accident while his father should be booked in a separate case as to why he allowed his minor son to drive the vehicle,” he said.
When contacted, a top police official told news agency KNT that he will check the details. “So many accidents take place here. Let me check, I will get back to you,” he said.
