SRINAGAR: Reacting to the recent statement of Congress leader Muzaffar Parray wherein he had stated that National Conference backstabbed Congress by nominating candidates for Kashmir valley for the forthcoming parliamentary polls, NC general secretary Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal Friday claimed that Congress can never win the parliamentary polls from Kashmir province.
Talking to KNS, Kamal said that the statement of Parray, senior vice president of Congress is his personal opinion and not of that of the Congress party. He (Parray) has said this as he went upset that the NC nominated its candidates.
Kamal said, Congress will never win any parliamentary seat from valley and that during the previously held assembly elections, it won only three seats. This is clear Mathematics that prove that it is almost impossible for Congress to win any parliamentary seat from Kashmir valley.
He further stated that Kashmir has asked one parliamentary seat from valley only to show to the party high command that they have some base in Kashmir. Kamal said that it would have been difficult for NC to surrender any seat from valley and that it has the strong base and following in the province.
Those who vote for NC will never vote for any other party and our supporters always have given us the suggestions to fight from Kashmir as we have done in the past, said Kamal adding that NC has no reason to surrender any constituency of Kashmir province to the state congress.
Commenting over the pre-poll alliance with Congress, Kamal said that NC in near future will take the final call on the issue and that the decision about the same will be made public.
Reportedly that state Congress has asked NC to keep one seat for Congress in Kashmir Valley for the forthcoming parliamentary polls. (KNS)
