KARGIL: Prominent religious scholar and the general secretary Anjuman-e-Jamiyat Ulama-e-Asna Ashriya Kargil Hujatul Islam Sheikh Mohammad Taha passed away in Jammu. He was 70. Born in a religious family of Akhonepa, Baroo in 1943 he went to Najaf Asharaf in Iraq for Islamic studies in 1964. After 8 years he returned to Kargil and was engaged in imparting Islamic education since.
He was elected general secretary of Huza Ilmia Asna Ashriya (ISK) in the eighties. He is survived by two daughters.
As the news about his death spread, people from different walks of life made it to Islamia School Kargil. The body was being brought to Kargil from Jammu. According to sources Nimaz-e-Janaza will be performed on Thursday and he will be laid to rest at his ancestral grave yard at Thang Baroo. His death has been eidely mourned.
