34 CRPF Men, 7 Soldiers Among 523 New Cases
Srinagar: At least eight more people on Saturday died of Covid-19 in Kashmir Valley, raising the number of fatalities due to the deadly disease in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to 308.
Among the victims, four were Srinagar residents, two from north Kashmir’s Bandipora, while one each from Baramulla and Pulwama district, officials said.
The victims from Srinagar included, a 70-year-old woman from Safa Kadal, a 60-year-old man from Peerbagh, a 75-year-old man from Rawalpora, and a 72-year-old man from Nishat. Two men in their sixties from Bandipora and a middle-aged man from Pampora in Pulwama and a 48-year-old woman from Kantbagh, Baramulla also succumbed to coronavirus on Saturday.
An official from SMHS said that a 70-year-old woman from Safa Kadal who was admitted on 20 July with bilateral pneumonia died on Saturday.
An official from SKIMS said that a 60-year old man from Peerbagh who was admitted on 18 July died on Saturday.
He further added that a 75-year-old man from Hakeembagh Rawalpora who was admitted on 18 July after testing positive for COVID-19 died on Saturday. The Patient, he said was suffering from ARDS, pneumonia and other ailments.
“A 48-year-old woman from Kantbagh Baramulla who was admitted on 22 July with ADRS, thyroid and other ailments after testing positive for COVID-19 died on Saturday,”
Another health official said that that a 72-year-old man from Brain Nishat who was admitted on 20 July with multiple ailments died at SKIMS on Saturday afternoon.
An official from SKIMS Bemina(JVC) said that a 65-year-old man from Nowgam Bandipora who was admitted on 23 July with multiple ailments died on Saturday.
A health official from Bandipora said that a 67-year-old man from Nibripora Bandipora who was on oxygen, died at home, where his sample was taken by a team of district hospital Budgam which came positive for COVID-19.
An official from CD hospital said that a 53-year-old man from Pampore Pulwama who was admitted on 24 July with pneumonia and other ailments died on Saturday.
With eight more fresh deaths, the total numbers of lives consumed the deadly virus have reached to 308 in J&K including 286 from Kashmir division and 22 from Jammu division.

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir’s coronavirus tally crossed the 17,000-mark on Saturday as 523 more people, including 34 CRPF personnel, 12 minors and 3 doctors tested positive for the deadly disease.
While 156 of the new cases were from Jammu region, 367 were from the valley, officials said. The total number of infected people in the union territory has risen to 17,305, the officials said.
Giving the district-wise breakup, officials said that Srinagar reported 145, Baramulla 18, Kulgam 6, Shopian 11, Pulwama 62, Bandipora 30, Ganderbal 9, Jammu 66, Kathua 27, Rajouri 16, Udhampur 2, Ramban 9, Samba 2, Poonch 4, Kishtwar 10 and Reasi 2.
There are now 7,483 active cases in the union territory, while 9,517 patients have recovered from the infection, they added.
The cases detected on Saturday included 88 people who had returned to the union territory recently. Besides it, 34 CRPF personnel, seven army men, 12 minors, three pregnant women and as many doctors also tested positive for coronavirus.
Also 300 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals in J&K. (with KNO inputs)
