SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday released the five youth from Maharashtra, who were detained for questioning after they were caught shooting army camp and convoy in Pattan area of north Kashmirs Baramulla district.
Abrar Ahmed Khan, son of Muhammad Ramzan, Suhail Ahmed Sheikh, son of Muhammad Sharief, Muhammad Ian Khan, son of Mehmood Khan all residents of Taj Nagar and Moinullah Khan and Muhammad Hakim residents of Aawati, Maharashtra were detained by armys 29 Rashtria Rifles when they took videos and pictures of their Zangam camp and a passing convoy on Wednesday evening. However, their local friends were let off.
Last night, after the Maharashtra police cleared their names, all the boys were released. Army had handed over the boys to us. They were apprehended while shooting army camp and a convoy, a senior police official said.
The boys, he said, were not arrested by the cops but were in custody of the police till the clearance was received from Maharashtra police.
By the time we received the clearance, it was too late. Later, we kept the boys in our custody. This morning, they were allowed to go, the official added.
