SRINAGAR: Retired Justice M.L.Koul heading the Commission of Inquiry set up by govt to probe the killing of five persons by CRPF in two different firing incidents on September 7 and 11 in Shopian district Monday appealed people of Gagrin Shopian to depose before the Commission.
I hope witnesses will turn up now. We are issuing another notification in coming days and this time the notification is liberal as we are giving three options to the witnesses, Koul told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding that he wishes that people will depose before the Commission in coming days.
Koul said that there are three options for the people. They can show up at my office located in Civil Secretariats ground floor in room number 64. People can also report at DC office Shopian or they can send registered documents to Registrar Commission, Koul said.
When asked why people did not depose before the Commission, Koul said he cant comment on the issue. I am sure, sooner or later, people will depose before the Commission. I appeal them to do so in coming days, he said.
Pertinently, on the eve of Zubin Mehtas concert, CRPF personnel of the 14th Battalion Gagran camp shot dead 4 people and injured another.
While 3 of them were identified as innocent civilians, police claimed that the fourth un-indentified victim was a Lashkar operative from Pakistan. However locals said that he was a non-local labourer.
Another civilian was shot dead and two others injured on September 11 by the CRPF personnel of the same camp. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah ordered a judicial probe which began on October 5.
