SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti has been nominated as the partys candidate for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency, while the senior party leader and former minister, Tariq Hameed Karra will fight on the partys ticket from Srinagar parliamentary constituency.
This was announced here today by the party patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at the meetings of the senior leaders, legislators and party functionaries of the two parliamentary constituencies.
The names of candidates for Baramulla and Ladakh constituencies are expected to be announced later.
On this occasion senior party leaders Tariq Karra, Ab Rehman Veeri, Ab Gaffar Sofi, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Mohamad Khalil Bandh, Syed Bashir Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Qazi Mohammad Afzal, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Rafi Ahamd Mir, Dr Mohamad Shafi, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Naeem Akhtar, Syed Altaf Bukhari besides others were present.
About the importance of the members that are sent to the parliament Mufti said the people of the state have now an opportunity and a challenge to utilize the next Lok Sabha elections for making the rest of the country aware of the problems, that we face and secure our rights as a special status state within the union. He said till now the MPs elected by the people here have generally being subsumed by electoral politics of the ruling parties, but now the PDP will try to send with the support of the people strong, sincere and dedicated persons to the highest seat of democrarcy in the country, so that our voice is heard with respect.
Mufti said people of the state have now a very clear and easy choice to make between parties while they exercise their right to vote.
