Srinagar – With an aim to provide a platform to the academia, researchers, practitioners, a three-day national conference on the Contemporary Issues in Business, Management and Finance begins at Univesity of Kashmir on Friday.
The conference is organised by department of Business and Financial studies of the University where experts from multi-disciplinary interests for scholarly discussion and meaningful discourse on the various issues our corporate world would deleberate on the subject.
Addressing academia, researchers and practitioners at the inaugural event held at Ghandi Bhawan auditorium vice-chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof Talat Ahmad who presided the inaugural session said the theme of the conference is significant and current in view of the fact that every time new realities are unfolding, new business and economic issues are emerging and new insights can be gained and utilized to address, conceptualize and theorize these new realities.
Prof Talat said that there are interesting challenges for the academia and the practitioners alike to take on and to make valuable contributions in a bid to make our organizations highly dynamic and competitive. VC hoped that 3-Day National Conference would go a long way in broadening the horizons of knowledge on these issues & the participants would get benefitted out of the deliberations & discussions in the conference.
Earlier director Of the three day conference and Head of the Bussiness and finanicial studies KU Prof Nazir Ahmad Nazir while speaking on the objectives of the conference said that said the national conference is being held to understand and deliberate upon the multifarious and ever changing business scenario prevailing in India, to identify the emerging areas thereof and to explore the opportunities & challenges; and integrate both conceptual and empirical research that shall link knowledge to different Industry contexts.
Prof Nazir said that the DBFS KU has carved out a niche for itself in organizing conferences on latest issues confronting businesses, management and finances globally.He said over the years the Department has made a mark as a premier research centre in the state and its researches and studies are well-received in the corridors of power and are referred to while making policy decisions at the state governmental level. Director conference said that it has constantly brought issues to the public squire with seminars and academic conferences.
The Chief Guest Sudhanshu Panday (IAS) ,Principal Secretary, Power Development ,Govt. of J&K said in his inaugural address said that business needs an attitude ,perseverance and commitment to be
successful. Saying that man is at the heart of management Panday said that it is essentially human resource which is critical in handling finances and management. Panday added that universities including Kashmir university have a bigger role and they need to introduce courses which are relevant to the jobs available in the market saying that market is dynamic Panday said that and unless we learn to develop linkages with the market changes would not take place.
In his keynote Address by Prof. Debi S. Saini noted academician and expert in human resource management in his key note address said we are in different times where whole world is becoming similar where we have to be prepared for it all the time and be updated. Earlier what academicians were saying was hardly read by practitioners but now the trend has changed and people going from one place to another are going through new theories and now industry people are reading seriously what academics are writing you cant divorce theory from practice Stressed Saini . He referred to what he termed as gold collar workers and said those knowledge workers are shaping things and giving direction to business for big business houses.
Registrar Kashmir University Prof Syed Fayaz in the present economic scenario, management gurus, bankers, the economists and financial engineers have been looking forward to more robust and pragmatic management and financial mechanisms that could withstand such financial debacles in future. The theme of the conference in view of the present business and financial scenario of the world assumes special significance on account of its far reaching implications across the corporate world. We need to adress regional issues here as well he stressed. A conference souvenior giving insight through the research papers on the underlying theme contributed by a galaxy of scholars, industrialists, and administrators was released by VC on this occasionon.
Dr Pervaiz A Shah assistant professor in business and managing studies conducting the proceedings of the seminar and Dr Riyaz A Ranayee faculty presented vote of thanks. The three day conference is is aimed to identify the emerging issues and to explore the opportunities and challenges as also to integrate both conceptual and empirical research that shall link knowledge to different industry contexts. More than 200 research papers from across the country and even a few from outside the country as well will be read which will be read in 11 technical sessions focusing on the broader themes like Banking, Tourism, Business Ethics & Corporat Governance, Foreign Direct Investment, Organizational behavior and human resource management, Marketing and Accounting.
