RAMALLAH: Israel forces are to uproot hundreds of Palestinian olive trees near the Israeli colony of Mabodotan, Gulf News reported today.
Hiring Israeli lawyers, Yaabad Municipality in Jenin has lodged an official complaint with the Israeli Higher Court of Justice against this decision.
Samer Abu Baker, the mayor of Yaabad, said that the trees are valuable assets for Palestinian farmers and a source of income.
Israel targets the olive trees in particular and seeks to destroy as much of this traditional Palestinian plant as possible, he told Gulf News.
