SRINAGR: Syed Ali Geelani led Hurriyat Conference today reiterated its resolve to carry out election boycott campaign but said it was not averse to any meaningful talks to resolve Kashmir dispute.
A meeting held at Hyderpora under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Geelani discussed various issues including future strategy of Hurriyat Conference.
According to a statement , all the participants unanimously reaffirmed the stance that Hurriyat Conference in principle was not against the dialogue process between India and Pakistan however, it believes that until the issue is resolved in accordance with the wishes of people of Kashmir, the dialogue process will be a futile exercise and in no case will deliver any fruitful result.
The meeting observed that for last 66 years and because of the stubbornness of India, Kashmir issue remained lingering and resulted in instability and uncertainty in the region and giving rise to large scale violations of human values and mistrust and strife between the two countries.
Hurriyat said that during negotiation for 150 times, both the countries achieved nothing and these negotiations proved to be worthless .While paying rich tributes to Martyrs of Jammu, Hurriyat Conference said that it is a great human tragedy and its after effects were catastrophic more than that resulted by nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, however unfortunately, it is still not being taken seriously.
Hurriyat Conference expressed its satisfaction over the release of its leader after the unlawful detention and the enthusiasm with which the people are attending the public meetings. It is obvious that despite military and police atrocities and all their repressive and highhandedness, they could not deter people from perusing their freedom right and their passion for achieving freedom is becoming stronger with each passing day, said statement and added that lull and the silence since year 2010 was the result of state terror and it was arrogance of power and enforced with the dint of might.
Hurriyat conference criticized Omer Abdullah and pro-Indian politicians and said that they were claiming it to be the peace .The members during the meeting observed that its policy regarding the election, adopted is nothing new, but was unanimously adopted and agreed policy of Hurriyat Conference and was followed since 1996 when elections in state were held and there were no difference even then.
The meeting reiterated that if the activities are not restricted, they will prove that the election conducted in state are nothing but simply manipulated by Indian forces and majority of people would like to remain aloof from this election drama, said Hurriyat Conference. It was unanimously observed that all pro-Indian parties contesting for election have no difference for us but are all enemies for Kashmiri people and their freedom struggle and to cast vote in their favor tantamount to betrayal with the sacrifices of martyrs, said Hurriyat.
