Geelani A Mass Leader: Sagar
SRINAGAR: National Conference legislator and former Minister, Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal Wednesday accused New Delhi of harbouring Syed Ali Geelani to weaken NC in Jammu and Kashmir.
Not only Pakistan but New Delhi is also providing monetary assistance to Geelani and other like-minded separatist leaders to uproot National Conference form the political map of the State, Kamal told Srinagar based news agency CNS.
Kamal alleged that Geelani was released to persuade people especially supporters of Jamat-e-Islami to cast their votes in favour of Peoples Democratic Party candidates in the forthcoming parliament and assembly elections.
Geelani and Company will now visit NC bastions to enforce election boycott and would urge upon Jamat supporters and leaders to help PDP during elections, he said.
He said that PDP and Jamat-e-Islami are hand in glove while Geelani was playing a key role in strengthening their bond. They should know that they cant uproot NC as it was the only party in Jammu and Kashmir which has a strong base. Geelani, Jamat-e-Islami or PDP will never succeed in their designs, he claimed.
National Conference leader lashed out at Hurriyat leaders and said that they were playing negative politics to digest the funds which they receive both from India and Pakistan.
What these Hurriyat leaders could do for people when they are themselves scattered and disintegrated. If their agenda is one, then why they have opened their shops separately. The fact is that they fill up their coffers and fool people, Kamal said adding people of Kashmir should try to find out the reasons why these separatist leaders are not ready to share the same dais.
Kamal reiterated that Geelani was not arrested by the Government but sometime authorities imposed restrictions on his movement to avoid untoward incidents. (CNS)
Geelani is Leader: Sagar
Meanwhile contradicting his party colleague Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, senior NC leader Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that Huriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani has strong foothold in Valley and people here follow his calls.
Sagar however appealed Geelani to halt his poll boycott campaign saying that Kashmir was the issue between India and Pakistan and that coming elections have no direct bearing on it. Elections are for the day to day issues of common people, it cannot affect even a single dimension of Kashmir Issue, Sagar said in an interview.
Sagar further mentioned that the poll boycott call being given by Geelani can only affect Srinagar and that other districts vote in good numbers. You see how people voted in Panchayat elections in the recent past; the reality is that only Srinagar follows the boycott call.
Asking Geelani to rethink about the poll boycott campaign, Sagar said that he (Geelani) is a leader of people and that we have to accept even if the truth is sour. We know he has a following and we should accept this reality but he (Geelani) should think for one more time about the decision of poll boycott, said Sagar while adding that even if boycott call turns successful still elections will be conducted. Why then he is asking people to refrain from casting votes?
