Ganderbal – Minister for Youth Services and Sports, R.S. Chib inaugurated the Second sub-junior 15-15 cricket championship at Madar-e-Meherban(MM) Sports Stadium in Central Kashmirs Ganderbal district.
The Championship is organized by Jammu and Kashmir 15-15 Cricket Association in collaboration with Sub-Junior Cricket Association of India.
About 400 players, coaches and managers are participating in the championships which include 250 boys, 50 girls from the various States of the country.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Minister reiterated the government was committed to promote sports activities and develop sports infrastructure in the State. By organizing such sports events the immense sports talent in State youth would further be honed to enable them to participate at National and International sports events, he added.
He said by encouraging and organizing sports activities the talent of the youth would get properly channelized toward a better sportsmanship
He said that the event will be a platform for exchange of cultural ties, brotherhood and unity among the participating players.
Besides others, director general prisons, Naveen Aggarwal, president 15-15 Cricket Association of India, Deepak Joshi, secretary general 15-15 Cricket Association of India, deputy commissioner Ganderbal and chairman Organizing Committee Mir Showkat Ahmed, director Youth Services and Sports, Jaipal Singh, secretary Sports Council, JK Daleep Thusu and president 15-15 Cricket Association of JK, Sheikh G A Sallori were also present on the occasion.
