SRINAGAR: A meeting to review the arrangements for the return of hajjis from the holy journey from Monday, October 21 onwards was held at the International Airport, Srinagar today.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Shah and was attended by Director Airport Authority of India, Mr. K.S Rao, Superintendent of Police Airport, Mr. Abdul Rashid Bhat, concerned officers from Hajj Committee, District administration Budgam and other concerned officers from PHE, Traffic, Health and Customs departments.
As many as 500 to 600 Hajjis are expected to arrive per day till November 06, 2013 the meeting was informed. Availability of drinking water and mobile lavatories facilities and other emergency services like first aid and fire dousing were also discussed in the meeting. Besides, 15 volunteers from Home Guards shall be provided by District Police Budgam and an arrangement of light refreshment sponsored by JK Bank shall also be available for Hajjis at the Airport.
The special area of the Airport reserved for arrival was inspected by the concerned officers and Director Airport Authority. It was informed that Zum-Zum (holy water) which the hajjis shall be carrying to their homes shall be given to them at the arrival only.
