Srinagar: Coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday crossed 3000 mark after recording biggest ever single day spike of 285 new cases, raising the total number of infected persons in the Union territory to 3142.
“285 new COVID-19 cases were detected in J&K. While 222 of them are from Kashmir, 63 are from Jammu,” the officials said.
Among fresh cases, 49 cases were reported from Kulgam, 35 from Shopian, 27 from Anantnag, 29 from Baramulla, 25 each from Srinagar & Udhampur, 19 from Kupwara, 14 from Pulwama, 15 from Bandipora, 11 from Jammu, six from Rajouri, five each from Budgam & Kishtwar, four each from Ganderbal & Poonch, three each from Kathua, Reasi, Doda & Samba, they said.
They said 57 persons who tested positive are travellers.
The number of confirmed cases has now reached 3,142, out of which 2,407 are in Kashmir, while 735 are in Jammu, the officials said.
There are 2,059 active cases of the coronavirus disease in J&K — 1,488 in Kashmir and 571 in Jammu — and 1,048 (888 from Kashmir and 160 from Jammu) patients have recovered, according to officials.
The J&K has witnessed 35 COVID-19 (31 from Kashmir, 4 from Jammu) deaths so far, including the one that took place on Thursday.
