SRINAGAR: The 20th senior men and 8th senior women North India boxing championships concluded here this evening. Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din, who was chief guest on the occasion, distributed prizes among the winners.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said boxing has a good scope among youth of the State. He said soon a dedicated boxing ring would be created for the benefit of players. He said the State Government would provide facilities to players where they can hone their skills.
The event has been held for the first time in Srinagar which was inaugurated on October 11.
Around 115 players both male and female hailing from five States of North Zone participated in the event.
Earlier, President, J&K Boxing Association, Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra in his welcome address enumerated steps taken to popularize boxing in the State.
