Srinagar- Seven policemen of Nowhata police station in Srinagar were placed under quarantine after a man who was arrested here earlier this week tested positive for COVID-19, officials said on Wednesday.
Taseer Khan, SHO Nowhata told Kashmir Observer the accused was wanted in a stone pelting FIR and they had apprehensions that he might create any Law and order problem in the area.
“We detained him few days ago. He later developed cough and fever on Monday night after which his sample was taken and sent for COVID-19 test”, Khan said, adding the result came positive.
The police official refuted the earlier reports that man was detained on the charges of domestic violence. Khan said they did’t receive any complaint regarding the same against the accused from anyone.
The patients wife also told Kashmir Observer that she has’t filed any complaint against her husband regarding domestic violence “We don’t know why he was detained,” she told Kashmir Observer.
