SRINAGAR: Hours after the State Congress chief announced the induction of some ‘prominant’ citizens into Congress following their approval by the party high command, Mohammad Aslam Goni, whose name surfaced in the list of new entrants, disaccociated from the Congress party.
Goni told local news agenct the KNS: This is baseless information. I have never ever met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. I was in National Conference right from the beginning and will continue to remain as part of this party. I am still political secretary to Dr Farooq Abdullah sahib.
Goni said that he has no knowledge how his name surfaced in the list of ‘prominent’ citizens who have joined Congress. I dont know how my name crept in. I have no association with Congress nor have I met any of its leaders in this connection.
PCC Chief Prof Saifudin Soz on Monday said membership of Goni and others has been accepted by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
