Srinagar- Two unidentified militants were killed in a gunfight with state forces in Wanpora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, police officials said.
They said that two militants have been killed in the operation, adding that the identity of the slain militants was yet to be ascertained.
Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 01 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Wanpora.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
Police said that incriminating material including arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.
“All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes,” a police spokesperson said.
He said a case FIR No. 30/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Qaimoh and investigation has been initiated.
