SRINAGAR: The Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) today accused Police of ignoring courts by not releasing its president Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan who was granted bail by the competent the other day.
A DAK spokesman said that the bail was granted to Dr. Nisaar but police did not pay any heed to the bail order.
It is the deliberate attempt by authorities to prevent DAK president from following the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) at High Court regarding the supply of spurious drugs in the Valley, said a DAK spokesman.
The spokesman however clarified that doctors will not go on strike against the continuous detention DAK president as it may cause inconvenience to general public.
Police sources meanwhile said that Dr. Nissar has been granted bail but other charges against him still remain valid.
He was booked under RPC 188 and the bail for this offence has been accepted but the other charges are also registered against him therefore he cannot be released, said a police official wishing not to be named.
The official sources have further confirmed that DAK president has been charged under section 107 and 151 RPC. He would be shifted to Central jail as under these sections he cannot be detained at the Police station.
Meanwhile, General Secretary Bar Association of Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Bhat has condemned the police action and has stated that such actions should not deter DAK to tread on the truthful path.
