16 Middle School buildings to be upgraded
Bandipora – As many as 16 Middle School buildings are being upgraded in Bandipora district under centrally sponsored flagship programme of Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) at an estimated cost of Rs. 8 crore, of which upgradation of 8 school buildings has been already taken up.
This was stated at a review meeting held here under the Chairmanship of State Project Director, RMSA, Mr. Hilal Ahmad Parray. The District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Lone was also present besides officers of district administration, Chief Education Officer, Mr. Abdul Qayoom Shah, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Gurez, Mr. M.A. Hakak and Principals and Headmasters of various schools.
The meeting took detailed review of various components of RMSA and it was informed that 11 High Schools are being provided with adequate teaching staff besides the infrastructure in Sumbal, Bandipora and Gurez tehsils. Besides, Rs. 15 lakh have also been expended on provision of drinking water and toilet facilities in 10 High Schools of Ajas, Bagh, Bunkote, Aham Sharief, Kanzalwan, Hajin, Naid Khai, Sumbal, S.K. Bala and Mukdamyari.
The meeting was further informed that 105 schools were given Annual School Grant of Rs. 52.50 lakh whileas 143 schools were provided with Rs. 35.75 lakh as Minor Repairs Grant in the district.
One Model School at Anderkote Sumbal has been approved by Government of India at a cost of Rs. 3 crore, informed the meeting.
It was also given out that one girls hostel has been approved for Dawar Gurez while such hostels have been proposed for Bandipora and Sonawari tehsils also under the said scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Parray stressed upon the officers to work with added zeal and utilize the funds released judiciously.
The District Development Commissioner, Bandipora on the occasion directed the concerned to conduct a workshop at district Bandipora so that all concerned officers can get full know-how about the proper implementation of the scheme.
A team of 3 officers was also constituted to ensure spot verification of school sites. He also directed the executing agency to ensure completion of school buildings within the stipulated time.
