Srinagar- Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P.K Pole today reviewed the status of Srinagar Smart City Project here at a meeting of senior officers of concerned departments.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, VC SDA, Commissioner SMC, Director Urban Local Bodies, VC LAWDA, Chief Engineer, PWD, Kashmir, RTO Kashmir, SSP Traffic City, Chief Town Planner, Representatives of INTACH and other concerned.
The Deputy Commissioner apprised the Div Com that all the components have been incorporated in the draft Smart City proposal and new suggestions have also been incorporated in the project to make the Srinagar city more attractive. He informed that special focus has been laid on the Smart components which will encourage consistency in urban design and signage, while recognizing the importance of the existing heritage and historical architecture besides the distinctive character within the community.
During the meeting threadbare deliberations were held to discuss various components of smart city project including Urban Mobility, Urban Environment, Disaster Management, Intelligent Traffic Management, Cycle Tracks, Smart Poles, Smart Bus Stops, Car Parking, Smart Waste Management, Flood Mitigation, Earthquake Resilience, Smart Fire Protection, Emergency Response, Non-Polluting Public Transport, Urban Design Moves and other components in detail through PowerPoint presentations.
The meeting was also informed that a web portal is being developed for smart utility management and command control system for all utilities on a single platform. It was informed that there is need of Project Management Consultants for smart city project.
The Divisional Commissioner directed concerned officers to keep ambit of project for longer horizon and expedite work in a time bound manner so that tangible results are achieved on ground. He also asked the concerned departments to work in unison with more zeal and dedication for completion of Smart City Project to make Srinagar a model city. He also stressed on the identifying spots for car parking to overcome the problem of traffic jamming.
