Shopian: Government forces Friday launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in a village in South Kashmir after receiving inputs about the presence of militants, official sources said.
They said on a tip off about the presence of militants, soldiers from 62 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at Karewa Shadab area of district Shopian.
All exit points were sealed and house to house searches launched, they further said adding that additional forces were deployed in the adjacent area to prevent any law and order problem.
During the search operation, door to door searches were conducted and the identity cards of the people were checked.
Sources said that the operation was called off after no contact with any militant was established.
