SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik was arrested by police near Pampore. He was on his way to Shopian with four truck loads of relief. JKLF however managed to take relief into Shopian where curfew was lifted after 15 days today. The town is however still on protest.
Malik mobilized his cadres and commoners this weekend and assembled a few truckloads of various provisions. He said that continued curfew restrictions have created scarcity of various basics like baby food and edible oils.
While he led the relief convoy till Pampore, police intercepted his motorcade and detained him along wih many of his associates. However, police permitted the truckloads of relief to reach the town.
Reports from Shopan said the relief truckloads were unloaded in a local charity office.
