SRINAGAR: On the eve of World Peace Day, Haqeeqat-e-Kashmir (Reality of Kashmir) released the CD A tribute to Afzala Cultural Aesthetic Tribute to the Resilience and Struggle of people of JK” in Srinagar on Saturday. The CD both in audio and video format is comprising of songs of resilience, grief and mourning against the secret hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru.
Scores of people including journalists, students, and civil society activists were present on this occasion. Prominent amoung them were Zarief Ahmed Zarief, Dr Altaf Hussain, Zaheer-u-Din, and Dr Mubeen Shah.
Speaking on the occasion, members of civil society said that the CD is a tribute to the son of soil Muhammad Afzal Guroo who laid his life for the sacred cause.
Comprising 15 songs in Kashmiri and Urdu, penned by Kashmiri poets and sung by three vocalists, the album will soon be available on the internet for free download. The music director is Naqshab Afridi while the lyrics have been written by Shaheedi, Muztar, Ali Sheda, Ghazi, Sabir, Nadim Kasmi, Fahad and Saif.
The lyrics of one song has been written by Shujat-ul-Islam who was killed in police action in 2010 summer agitation.
The voices have been given by Irfan Bilal, Dr Rubeena, Saif Fahad, Shayaan, residents of Bomai Sopore, Shaheed Shujat-ul-Islam and Anonymous.

Stating that gun and stone pelting were not the only means to fight the present movement in Kashmir, civil society activists said that literature, short films, music and other such things could also be used to highlight the Kashmir issue at international forums. Releasing the CD titled Hakeekat-e-Kashmir comprising of revolutionary songs in memoriam of Afzal Guru, senior Pediatrician and Civil Society activist Dr. Altaf Hussain suggested of making the short duration documentary films highlighting the miseries of people in Kashmir and said that such innovative and modern means would prove beneficial in highlighting the Kashmir issue world over.
Till sep.7 when we held Hakeekat e Kashmir show at Municipal Park, I had some apprehensions regarding the future of the movement, but there realized that the movement has already transferred into the next generation. Dr. Altaf said in his address.
According to KNS, famous poet and Civil Society activist Zareef Ahmad Zareef highlighted the contribution of women in the current movement and said that the kashmiri women have offered tremendous sacrifices for the cause.
Women have given more sacrifices than men. They have highlighted the sufferings of people through conventional Rouf and wan wun. Said Zareef.
The function was also addressed by Prof. Hameeda Nayeem, , Er. Anwar Ashai, , Advocate Parvaiz Imroz, Dr. Javid Iqbal, Ab. Majeed Zarger, Z.G.Mohammad, Mohammed Afzal Paray,Khuram Parvaiz, Mubeen Shah and Shakeel Qalender.
