Srinagar: Three SSB personnel, including an officer and a policeman were injured after unknown militants lobbed a grenade on a Naka party in Nowhatta area of old city in Srinagar on Wednesday.
Reports said that the militants hurled the grenade on a joint Naka party of SSB and police at Nowhatta Chowk at around 9:10 pm.
An officer of the Sashastra Seema Bal said that three SSB jawans of 55 bn including an officer of Inspector rank and a policeman constable Abdul Majeed (863/S) suffered minor splinter injuries in the attack.
The officer said that all the four personnel suffered injuries in their legs and as such were taken to a police hospital (at PCR) for treatment.
The injured troopers have been identified as Sub Inspector Anurag Roa, Head Constable Sananta Kumar and Constable Durgesh.
Soon after the attack, the joint team of forces launched searches in the area.
Man Shot At In Handwara
Meanwhile a report from Handwara said gunmen shot at a 38-year-old man in Beigh area of Kralgund in north Kashmir town.
A police officer said that the suspected militants barged inside the house of Ali Mohammad Beigh (38) son of Habibullah Beigh at around 8:20 pm and fired upon him, reported news agency GNS.
Ali Mohammad suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to a nearby primary health center from where he was referred to district hospital Handwara in critical conditions.
Soon after the incident, the officer said a joint team of police, SOG and army launched searches to nab the assailants.
