SRINAGAR: At least two persons, police called militants, were killed in a fierce encounter in a village near Pattan late on Tuesday.
According to a police spokesman, a fierce encounter took place at village Goshbugh in the jurisdiction of Pattan tehsil late on Tuesday following raid by a joint team of SOG of police and 29 Rashtrya Rifles.
SSP Baramullah Zubair Ahmad said that the two local militants belonging to Hizbul Mujahedin were killed in the encounter that lasted for nearly an hour. The duo have been identified as Hilal Ahmad and Mohammad Yaqoob Sofi, both residents of Palhalan.
