SRINAGAR: Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh on Saturday visited forward areas of Ladakh and reviewed the security situation following the backdrop of increasing incidents of Chinese incursions in the region.
Udhampur based defence spokesperson in a statement said that during the day-long visit, the Army Chief reviewed the security situation in the area.
This is his second visit to the region after taking over as Army Chief on May 31, 2012. He was received at Leh airfield by GOC-in-C Northern Command and GOC Fire & Fury Corps.
The Chief had a detailed interaction with the Army Commander and the Corps Commander and was briefed on prevailing security environment, infrastructure, development projects and various initiatives undertaken by the Army in Ladakh Region.
He also reviewed the logistical infrastructure available to the soldiers and assured quality support to the troops. The Chief expressed his satisfaction over the operational preparedness of the formation.
The visit of the Army Chief to Ladakh comes at a time when concerns have been raised over the increasing incidents of intrusions by the PLA in Ladakh areas and face-offs between the troops of the two sides.
