Srinagar: Nearly a hundred people were arrested on Monday by police from north Kashmir’s Handwara for allegedly violating prohibitory orders imposed to contain spread of coronavirus.
47 people were arrested while a vehicle was confiscated in Handwara town for defying orders issued under section 144 CrPC, a police spokesperson said today.
“Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigation into the cases have been initiated,” he said.
In Qalamabad, nine people and in Vilgam 21 were arrested for defying lockdown orders. Five vehicles were also seized by the police, the spokesperson said. He said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations started.
In Kralgund, 16people were arrested and four vehicles seized by police for violating prohibitory orders.
“Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated,” the police spokesperson added.
