Srinagar – Continuing with its drive against illegal constructions in the city, the Srinagar Municipal today demolished structures and stopped constructions on buildings in different city areas.
According to SMC sources, the enforcement wing of the corporation, demolished a building coming up illegally in the HMT area. The owners of the building, which was in initial phases of construction, were directed to get permission from authorities before taking up the construction, the SMC Media Relations Officer told KNS.
A team of the enforcement wing of the corporation also stopped work on structures coming up at Chanapora housing colony today, the officer said. The owners too have been asked to apply for permission from concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, according to official sources, Commissioner SMC Dr G N Qasba convened a meeting of officers on Monday to take stock of demolition drives.
The commissioner has directed ward officers from different areas of Srinagar to ensure that no illegal constructions take place in any city area. He told officers that in case of any illegal constructions are allowed, the concerned officers of the ward will be held accountable, the sources added.
The Commissioner has also directed officers to file a report to his office every Monday at 12 Noon, regarding permissions given for constructions and demolitions that would have taken place during the week, the sources added. (KNS)
