Srinagar: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on Friday was booked for violating prohibitory order by roaming freely in the administration declared Red Zones of Shopian district.
The BJP leader, Saleem Sheikh who is also Block Development Council (BDC) Chairman, was booked today by police after he ignored several warnings to desist from roaming in the areas declared Red Zone by the district administration, news agency KNT reported.
Sheikh, a resident of Heerpora village, also a red zone was not heeding to the police warning and would roam freely in different villages, the report quoted sources as saying.
The southern Kashmir district has recorded 13 positive cases of coronavirus till date.
“FIR vide number 12/2020 under section 188, 269 was registered against the violator at Police Station Heerpora Shopian,” a police official told the news agency.
