Srinagar: Over a dozen people on Friday were arrested for offering congregational Friday prayers near the Deputy Commissioner’s office here in this capital city in violation of the prohibitory orders.
Police detained 15 devotees for offering Friday congregational prayers at a mosque near the office of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary at Tankipora here, news agency KNT reported. Many people managed to flee from the mosque when the police team arrived at the spot to apprehend the worshippers for violating lockdown orders.
A police official said that people were detained for putting the lives of others at risk, the report said.
