Srinagar: At least seven non-locals are among the 23 people, who tested positive to coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, taking the number of infected people across the Union Territory to 207, officials said.
While 18 new cases surfaced in Kashmir Valley, five were reported from Jammu, reports said.
Seven of the people reported Covid-19 positive today are non-locals hailing from Kerala state of south India. They are said to be part of a Tabligi Jamaat, ‘traced and isolated on March 27’, government spokesperson Rohit Kansal said.
All of these non-locals have been put under quarantine at the EDI Pampore.
A resident of Chattabal locality, who was said to be in contact with the non-locals, also tested positive for Covid-19, reports said.

The other ten fresh cases were reported from the twin districts of Kupwara and Baramulla in north Kashmir, while five cases from Jammu are contacts of a 61-year-old woman who died on April 8 and are all residents of Udhampur district.
With these fresh cases, 207 have tested positive for the dreaded disease so far in Jammu and Kashmir and include 170 in Kashmir and 29 in Jammu division.
Meanwhile, the government in the daily media bulletin released today said that 46158 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance in Jammu and Kashmir and so far 207 cases have tested positive for novel coronavirus.
“Out of 207 positive cases, 197 are Active Positive, 06 have recovered and 04 have died. Furthermore, 7726 persons have been kept in home quarantine, 415 in hospital quarantine, 197 in hospital isolation and 27891 under home surveillance. Besides, 9925 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period,” the bulletin said.
It added that till date 2754 samples have tested as negative till April 10, 2020.
Giving a district wise break-up, the bulletin said that Srinagar has 51 positive cases 49 among them active, 01 recovery and 0 dead. Bandipora district has 36 positive cases, 33 of them active with two recoveries and a death.
“Baramulla has 30 positive cases with 29 active Positive, 0 recoveries and 1 died, Budgam has 10 positive cases and all are active Positive, Pulwama has 3 positive cases-all active, while Shopian and Kupwara have 13 positive cases each and all are active. Ganderbal and Kulgam districts have 2 and 3 active positive cases,” the bulletin said.
Similarly, Jammu has 6 active positive cases, Udhampur 17 positive cases of which 16 are active, 0 recovered and 1 death, while as Rajouri and Kishtwar have 03 and 01 positive cases respectively wherein all the three in Rajouri are active Positive and the single positive case has recovered fully in Kishtwar district, the bulletin said.
It added that there were 19 positive cases of patients belonging to other States/UTs of which 17 are active and 2 have recovered.
The bulletin also carried an advisory saying smoking can increase the chances of getting Covid-19 by transferring the virus by bringing hands to the mouth.
“Smoking damages lungs, heart and other body parts and may increase your risk of getting a severe case of Covid-19,” the advisory reads, while emphasizing upon smokers to quit smoking.
