SRINAGAR: Islamia College of Science and Commerce ( ICSC) graduated to finals after defeating Govt. Degree College Shopian by 120 runs in the ongoing 8th Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup here today.
After winning the toss at the college grounds, Islamia College elected to bat first and scored 227 runs in allotted 30 overs. For ICSC Rayees Mir contributed 62 runs in 34 deliveries & Usmaan Pandit contributed 47 in 46 deliveries.
For GDC Shopian Tawseef Ahmad and Basit Ahmad claimed two wickets each.
Chasing a target of 228 runs, Government Degree College Shopian scored only 107 Runs in 21.05 overs. Rayees scored 15 runs in six balls & Tawseef scored 12 runs in 15 balls.
For ICSC Danish & Furqaan took three wickets each.
As such Islamia College won the match by 120 runs and booked their place in the finals of this tournament. Rayees Mir was adjudged Man of the Match for his good batting performance.
Islamia College will play final match of this tournament on 5th of September 2013, against Gandhi Memorial College.
The tournament is being played in memory of late Prof. Mohammad Yousuf Ex. Principal of the College who has contributed a lot towards the development of sports infrastructure in the college. The tournament is being organised by the Department of Physical Education, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar.
