Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that 30 people were arrested from this capital city and north Kashmir’s Kupwara district for violating prohibitory orders imposed by the government to contain Covid-19 pandemic.
Here in this capital city, three people were arrested by police in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Rangreth for defying the restrictions, a police spokesperson said. He said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Sadder and further investigation into the cases have been initiated.
27 more people were arrested from parts of the frontier Kupwara district.
Eleven each were arrested from Qalamabad and Kralgund areas of Handwara for violating prohibitory orders imposed under Section 144CrPC, police spokesperson said. Six vehicles were also seized by the police.
The police spokesperson said that cases FIR No. 24/2020 and FIR No. 33/2020 have been registered at Police Station Qalamabad and Kralgund in this regard.
Five other lockdown violators were arrested from Vilgam. A case FIR No. 27/2020 under relevant sections of law for violating the prohibitory orders over Coronavirus have been registered against them, the police spokesperson added.
