8TH PROF. YOUSUF MEMORIAL CRICKET CUP 2013
SRINAGAR: Islamia College Alumni Team (Old Boys) thrashed Govt. Degree College Ganderbal by 99 Runs in the on going 8th Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup being played at Islamia College of Science and Commerce grounds.
After winning the toss Alumni Team, elected to bat first and scored 216 runs in 30 overs. For ICSC Alumni Parvaiz Ganai scored 56 runs in 49 deliveries & Amir Aziz scored 45 runs in as many deliveries.
For G D C Ganderbal Shahnawaz took 03 wickets & Aijaz took 02.
Chasing a stiff target of 217 runs G D C Ganderbal players could score 117 runs only in 19.05 overs. Tasaduq with 20 runs and Ubaid with 18 runs were the main contributors for G D C Ganderbal.
For ICSC Alumni, Irfan Dar took 04 wickets and Wasim Raza took 03.As such ICSC Alumni Team won the match by 99 Runs & booked their place in Quarter-Finals.
Wasim Raza of Islamia College Alumni Team was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant all-round performance.
At the start of the match Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Aslam Baba along with member sports committee Prof. Mohammad Qasim, were introduced to both the team players and officials of the match. On Monday, 26th of August 2013, SP College will play against Islamia College in the Quarter Finals & On Tuesday 27th of August, Gandhi Memorial College will lock horns with G D C Pulwama.
The Tournament is being played in memory of ex-Principal of the college Prof. Mohammad Yousuf, whose contribution in the development of college infrastructure and especially college play-ground was un-paralleled. The tournament is being organised by the Department of Physical Education, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar.
