Srinagar, Sept 17: :-62 projects costing Rs. 454 crore were approved under the Integrated Water Management Programme (IWMP) by State Level Nodal Agency (SLNA) and sent to the Union Government for approval.
The decision was taken at a high level meeting of SLNA held under the Chairmanship of Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Department Mr. Farooq Ahmed Peer, Dr. P.C. Reddy, Deputy Commissioner Department Land Resources Government of India, Dr. Hilal-ud- Din, from National Rain Fed Area Authority and Chief Executive Officer IWNP, Dr. G.H. Shah and other senior officers of various departments were present in the meeting.
A detailed presentation was made by the CEO, IWMP highlighted the steps taken by the State Government for the proper and sustains implementation of this programme. The experts from Forest, Agriculture Production Department and scientists from Kashmir University and Sher-i-Kashmir Agriculture University Jammu gave their suggestions for making the programme more effective at the ground level.
Mr. Peer while speaking on the occasion said that the officers from different departments should work in complete synergy to ensure that the programme is implemented in a proper manner so that more and more people of the State get from this flagship programme. He further directed the concerned to ensure that the requisite parameters of the schemes are strict adhered to.
