Srinagar: In order to engage and motivate the meritorious and bright students for the pursuit of Science the University of Kashmir is organizing the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) program, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India from September 7-11, 2013.
The program is aimed at nourishing the curiosity of young minds in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in science and facilitate their out of- the- box thinking at an early age.
During the said program, reputed mentors and resource persons across disciplines of Science, including various Science Academy Fellows, Bhatnagar Awardees, Scientists and academicians of national and international repute from across the country will interact with the participating students representing not only almost all the districts of Kashmir, but some regions of Kargil and Leh also.
Vice Chancellor, KU Prof. Talat Ahmad, is personally very keenly looking at the preparations and arrangements of the said program.
Prof. Talat Ahmad who has committed himself publicly of bringing KU closer to society said that said that the Science INSPIRE initiative taken by the University of Kashmir shall address the quest of the youth of Kashmir towards science so that they can evolve as successful personalities to serve the humanity better.
In a high level meeting attended by Dean Academic Affairs, Dean Research, Registrar, Deans of various faculties, Directors and Coordinators of various centres, Heads of various Science Departments, under the chairmanship of VC, the convener of the program, Dr. Manzoor A Shah, gave an overview of the program and highlighted its novelties in terms of some special sessions on themes such as, open discussions on science curricula, emerging opportunities in mathematical sciences, science writing workshops, meet the budding innovators, besides some live demonstrations and field visits.
