SRINAGAR: Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir today presented a memorandum to the UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon demanding action against the military rulers responsible for massacre of hundreds of peaceful protestors in Egypt.
The delegation comprising of Naib Ameer, Nazir Ahmad Raina, General Secretary, Dr. Abdul Hameed Fayaz, spokesperson Zahid Ali, and Maulana Tariq Ahmad Makki presented the memorandum to the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) office stationed in Srinagar.
The delegation apart from submitting the memorandum addressed to the Ban Ki Moon, lodged protest with the UN office on behalf of Jamat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir against the silence and subsequent inaction of the world body over the dethroning of legitimate government led by President Dr. Mohammad Mursi and subsequent massacre of hundreds of peaceful protestors.
In the memorandum, Jamaat has expressed its grave concern over the sordid and alarming situation created after the democratically elected government of Egypt led by President Dr. Mohammad Mursi was deposed by rebellion of Egyptian army led by General Abdul Fateh Al Sisi without any legal or moral justification.
The memorandum further said that: All the fundamental human rights are being trampled by the illegal government which is not acceptable to the majority of Egyptian people.
Calling into question the silence of world bodies over the illegal act, the memorandum said that the world bodies and forums failed to support the general public of Egypt and instead provided justification to the military rule in a tacit manner.
No effective measure was taken to stop the brutality by the army in Egypt, the memorandum said adding Some powers issued statements condemning the human rights violations but no considerable measure was taken to save the hapless and peaceful protestors from the military aggression.
All the world bodies and independent states are watching the massacre of Egyptians by military without even expressing a word of compassion for the victims of state-terrorism, the memorandum said.
In the memorandum, Jamaat while expressing deep concern and anguish condemns the use of state-power by military rulers in Egypt against peaceful protestors.
We vehemently appeal your revered self to come clear on the human issue in order to maintain the credibility of the UNO and take all possible measures mandated by the UN charter against the military generals blatantly violating the fundamental human rights of the people of Egypt and help in restoring the democratically elected government of Dr Mohammad Mursi, said the memorandum submitted on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami J&K through Mohammad Abdullah Wani, Ameer-e-Jamaat.
