SRINAGAR: J&K RTI Movement strongly condemns the frightful attack on a senior RTI Activist and coordinator Tosamaidan bachave front,Nazir Lone.Nazir was today attacked by Local Panchayat body on the behest of BDO Khag who is very infamous among activist circles because of his high headedness. The concerned BDO has a very poor record of either denying the information or disseminating incomplete or wrong information to RTI applicants. So far he has been involved in many attacks like this on RTI Activists.
As per J & K RTI Act 2009,first appellate authority is supposed to file a complaint with State information commission against the Public information officer against who many first appeals are filed but unfortunately the concerned first appellate authority (ACD,Budgam) has not forwarded any such complains to the SIC which proved a nexus between the BDO and ACD concerned. Such attacks are just unconstitutional and unjustified and cant be tolerated, the chairman of J&K RTI Movement ,Dr Shiekh Ghulam Rasool said.
J&K RTI Movement Appeals to the honorable Chief Minister, IGP Kashmir and SIC to take a strong notice of the nexus between BDO Khag and ACD Budagm and give out suitable punishment against the erring officers. We have been appealing the authorities for whistle blowe protection time and again but no one has paid a heed to our pleas. Now the time has come when authorities should ensure protection of whistle blowers.
