Srinagar- As Kashmir is witnessing a spike in Covid-19 cases, the J&K government Wednesday said that over 400 people concealed their travel history after returning to Kashmir in the aftermath of global coronavirus outbreak.
The control room established in this capital city for containing spread of the deadly infection, received complaints of over 400 people who have hidden their travel history after returning from abroad, an official spokesperson said. These complaints were received during last week after the Valley recorded first positive case of coronavirus on March 18.
“Of these, over 200 have been verified and found to be true by the surveillance teams after tracing the persons. 150 among them were kept under quarantine. The remaining fifty with national travel history were put under home quarantine,” the spokesperson said.
He said efforts were on to track the other people against whom complaints have been received.
The spokesperson further said that around 1750 persons with recent travel histories to outside countries have been put under quarantine in 40 out of 90 facilities set up so far in the district.
“It should be noted that a well-equipped control room with a robust mechanism for coordination and tracing of suspected cases has been established in the district. It includes an elaborate mechanism of surveillance with over 50 teams constituted as part of it assisting it in tracing suspected cases,” the spokesperson added.
