Srinagar: Senior separatist leader and Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Wednesday alleged that by arresting peaceful and respectable people in Valley and in Kishtwar the government was trying to shield the communal hooligans.
In a statement he condemned the unjustified arrest of Moulana Abdul Qayoom Sahib, Firdous Ahmad Baghwan, Javed Ahmad Dar, Zakir Baghwan and dozens of other Freedom Party activists in Kishtwar. While commenting on the communal elements of Jammu province Shah said, Communal elements by spreading communalism have always tied to create a wedge between Jammu province and Kashmir Valley but people of Jammu always disappointed them and even today, the people of Jammu turn deaf ears to their designs and provocations.
Non-Muslim and Sikh community of Kashmir are testimony to the religious harmony of Kashmiri Muslims but communalists, in order to reach assembly, do not find any other option than to spread communalism, he added.
Holding Sangh Parivar responsible for sowing seeds of hatred in Jammu and Kashmir, the DFP chairman appealed people to foil their every attempt of dividing the State. Expressing concern over the highhandedness of Police and forces in Kashmir, Shah condemned the arrest of youth in Pulwama, Shopian, Islamabad, Kulgam, Sopore, Baramulla and Shahr-e-Khaas. He said Police by arresting Mudasir Naiku and Muhammad Ashraf Sheikh of Pattan, Palhallan have created a sense of fear among people. He also warned of serious ramification if such unjustified arrest will continue.
Meanwhile, Shah, in telephonic addresses to various gatherings in Pakistan with regards to Independence Day greeted Pakistani people and rulers on Independence Day and said that Kashmiri nation is obliged and thankful to people of Pakistan and its rulers for receiving their moral, political and diplomatic support to freedom struggle of Kashmiris.
