SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday said the recent flare -up on the LOC between India and Pakistan has the potential to harm the improving relations between the two countries.
Addressing a gathering in Srinagar, Mirwaiz urged both countries to demilitarize the borders and ensure safety of Kashmiris living along the LOC on both sides of the divided Kashmir.
He said that killing of Indian or Pakistani soldiers during border tension has always remained a cause of concern for Kashmiris as they have to face the brunt. Hence, Mirwaiz, said Kashmiris have repeatedly stressed upon both nations to solve Kashmir dispute to stop the wastage of lives.

He said the Kashmiris are the worst victims of tense relations between India and Pakistan. Mirwaiz expressed desire that both countries would show political prudence and would take appropriate measures to normalize their relations.
APHC Chairman expressed serious concern over the reports that the army along LOC in Machil sector killed four herb collectors and labeled them as militants, during a fake encounter. He demanded an immediate impartial inquiry into the incident.
