SRINAGAR: Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), an amalgam of various government employees unions, on Wednesday called for protest demonstrations and strike on 22 and 23 August to protest the failure of the government to fulfill their demands.
Addressing reporters here, JCC leaders including Abdul Qayoom Wani and Rouf Ahmad Bhat also threatened to intensify their protests if government continued to maintain what they termed as criminal silence.
We have decided employees of all the three regions will stage protest demonstrations in all the three regionsJammu, Valley and Ladakh, Qayoom Wani said.
He said that on the day (August 22), thousands of employees will assemble at SK Park here and We will march peacefully towards the residence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
On the day, employees of civil secretariat led by Rouf Ahmad Bhat will stage protests inside the premises the secretariat.
In Jammu, he said, employees led by JCC leader Gafoor Dar will stage protests outside the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
On August 23, there will be a complete strike in all government offices including Civil Secretariat and Public Sector Undertakings, Wani, who also heads EJAC (Q), said.
Qayoom Wani also threatened to intensify the strike and protests if government continued to offer could shoulder to their genuine demands.
JCC is demanding enhancement in the retirement age from 58 to 60 years, regularisation for the daily rated workers, casual labourers and need based workers engaged after 1994, removal of pay anomaly of clerical cadre (pre-revised Rs 6500-10500) and budgetary support for public sector.
Meanwhile, JCC also announced to support the call of agitation by Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) against widespread sale and distribution of spurious drugs in Kashmir.
