KISHTWAR: More than 100 buildings were damaged and two persons were injured when an earthquake of moderate intensity shook Kishtwar and Doda districts today.
The quake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, jolted Kishtwar and Doda districts in Jammu region and parts of the Valley at around 3.08 am, a day after a similar tremor had hit the region.
The quake lasted nine seconds and was followed by two aftershocks at 3.12 am and 4.12 am, Met officials said.
Over 100 buildings, including government structures, developed cracks and two persons, including a jawan of the Shashatra Seema Bal, were injured in the quake in Kishtwar district, officials said.
A higher secondary school building and office of the Assistant Commissioner (Development) were among the structures damaged.
Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Ram Mandir, Shiv Mandir and the shrine of a sufi saint also developed cracks in Kishtwar.
