JAMMU – Senior separatist leader and President Jammu Kashmir Muslim League, Masarat Alam Bhat on Tuesday was presented before a TADA court here in a case filed against him by Jammu and Kashmir Police in 2012.
The firebrand separatist leader who has mostly been in jail since 2010, was produced by police before the TADA court here today, news agency KNT reported.
After listening the arguments from the Public Prosecutor and the Counsel representing Alam, the court listed the case for next hearing on April 9. The police in a case filed against Alam in 2012, has alleged that he was involved in disturbing peace and order in the Valley.
Alam pertinently is facing detention under 37th Public Safety Act (PSA) that was slapped against him last year in May.
The separatist leader, who is part of Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference, has spent most part of his life in jail since 2008. In the last 25 years, he has been booked 37 times under the PSA.
